The president of the International Organisation of Booktowns Mrs Gunnel Ottersten officially announced the village of Chelopek as the first Bulgarian Bookvillage full member of the IOB.

Knigini Association set up the first bookshop for antiquarian and second-hand books in Chelopek bookvillage
